Aalen University holds a key role in securing the future of East Wuerttemberg as a photonics location. Excellence in state-of-the-art training, research projects, the promotion of technology transfer between academia and industry and much more help create optimum conditions for a profession in this future-oriented growth market.
The photonics initiative taken by WiRO in cooperation with the Photonics BW e.V. competence network, the municipal bodies as well as research and education institutes is supported by Aalen University with all the means at its disposal. As a result, the economic region of East Wuerttemberg is well on its way to becoming a major center for the optical technologies – a »Photonic Valley«.
The strong emphasis on practical experience resulting from its close cooperation with industry, from study projects and from thesis placements characterise the applied sciences orientation of higher-level education at Aalen University. Highly qualified graduates can satisfy the large demand for specialists and are the condition for innovation and growth in the future-oriented industry of photonics. This sector supports the students at the university with customised study programs while recognising the university’s innovative and future-oriented educational program by providing several endowed professorships, e.g. in the area of photonics.
