With future fields such as laser technology and Micro-optics it contributes significantly to the technological development in the areas of industrial and measurement engineering, IT, electronics, biotechnology and life science.           Over 50 companies with more than 7000 jobs constitute the photonics cluster of this region together with top-class educa-tional and research institutions.
